Apprenticeships with New Directions

As an organisation we’re committed to life-long learning. An Apprenticeship with New Directions is a great way start out in the care sector. We’re fully committed to supporting the national apprenticeship scheme and proud to currently have over 400 candidates working toward their formal qualification. As an apprentice, you’ll earn as you learn at no cost to you and we’ll even pay you a bonus once you have completed and gained your diploma. We will provide you with quality training and mentoring all the way.

We currently have vacancies within Enfield.

We are waiting to hear from you if you are:

  • Caring, compassionate, with a genuine desire to help others
  • Confident to work alone or as part of a team
  • Adaptable and happy to support our customers with a range of tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, medication, light household duties and shopping
  • Punctual and flexible
  • Able to travel between clients homes (You will need to hold a full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle to be considered)

Ideal for those that are looking to change careers

We welcome people looking to start a new career in Health and Social Care. Qualifications and experience are good, but what’s really important is a caring, can-do attitude. You may have cared for a relative or loved one or just want the opportunity to start your new career in care. We will provide you with great training and become part of a supportive, friendly team and if you want to develop a career, you’ll have opportunities to grow in your role and progress to senior positions.

Returning to work?

Looking to return to work after a break? Perhaps you’ve brought up a family and want a role that still offers flexibility and a good work-life balance. Many of our Care Assistants fall into this category. We really value their life experience – as the skills they’ve gained outside work are just as relevant as those they gain in the workplace. In return, we offer flexible hours, great rates of pay, paid mileage, full support, and a close-knit, friendly environment.

How does an apprenticeship work?

The apprenticeship is a work-based qualification, which means that much of your learning and assessment for the apprenticeship will be set out over a 3 hour workshop every 4 – 6 weeks with your allocated tutor. You will complete approximately 1 hour of study per week in your own time, working on subjects that are set out by your tutor. We will pay you for your attendance at these workshops.

Am I eligible for apprenticeship?

Providing you are not currently studying at college for a degree, or already have a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, then you are eligible to apply! If you have a degree in non-related Health and Social Care or a degree that was obtained outside the UK/EU you are still able to apply for an apprenticeship.

We offer full support for all those that are dyslexic, have dyscalculia, dyspraxia or a visual, hearing or anything else that makes learning difficult.

If finding the time and space to concentrate on an apprenticeship is difficult, we can offer the use of our training space when this is free – a great location if people want to work in study groups and an ideal way to get to know their colleagues.
